When falling in love, many people can't eat or sleep properly – they are way too nervous to do that!

But how does falling in love make these simple things so hard to do?

Here are a few explanations for that.

Excitement and happiness

Being in love can make people feel excited and happy.

These strong emotions can make it hard to relax and calm down, which can interfere with falling asleep.

Overthinking and anticipation

When someone is in love, their mind tends to be occupied with thoughts about the person they love.

They might think about their interactions, future plans, or simply replay happy moments in their mind.

This overthinking and anticipation can make it challenging to quiet the mind and drift off to sleep.

Increased energy and alertness

Love can bring about a surge of energy and heightened alertness.

People might feel more awake and alive, making it difficult for them to unwind and enter a relaxed state conducive to sleep.

Anxiety and stress

Love can also bring about feelings of anxiety or stress, especially in the early stages or during uncertain times in a relationship.

These emotions can cause restlessness and worry, making it harder to fall asleep or stay asleep throughout the night.

Physical sensations

When people are in love, they may experience physical sensations like a racing heart, butterflies in the stomach, or a general sense of excitement.

These sensations can make it challenging to achieve a calm and relaxed state necessary for falling asleep.
