Can you use books as home decor: Interior designers don’t always think so

A nice library or just a bookshelf can be a great home decor, but not always.

Interior designers claim that books can sometimes make your living space look worse.

There are a few reasons for that.

Dust and Maintenance

Books can accumulate plenty of dust over time, requiring regular cleaning and maintenance. If they are left untouched for extended periods, they can become a breeding ground for dust mites or other allergens. This can make it more challenging to keep the surrounding area clean and may require extra effort to maintain a tidy appearance.

Visual Clutter

Large collections of books can create a visually cluttered look because of different sizes and colors, especially if they are not well-organized or if there is limited space available. This can make a room appear busy or disorganized.

Limited Design Flexibility

Books come in various shapes, sizes, and colors, which may not always align with the desired aesthetic or color scheme of a room. If the books do not complement the overall design or decor, they can disrupt the visual harmony or cohesion.

Lack of Personalization

Unless carefully curated or arranged, books may not reflect the individual's personality or interests as effectively as other decor choices. While books can be a reflection of one's intellectual pursuits, they may not provide the same level of personalization or visual impact as other decorative items.
