Most people know that frying isn't then healthiest cooking method, but don't know any alternatives that are healthy but also delicious.

Baking in a sleeve, also known as oven baking or cooking in parchment paper or foil, is often considered a healthier cooking method compared to frying for several reasons.

Let's find out more!

Reduced oil/fat

When baking in a sleeve, you typically use little to no oil or fat compared to frying, where food is submerged in hot oil.

This significantly reduces the overall calorie and fat content of the dish.

Healthier fats

If you do choose to use some oil when baking, you have the option to use healthier oils like olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil, which offer more beneficial nutrients than the often less healthy oils used in frying.

Less absorption of oil

Frying involves the food absorbing a significant amount of oil, making it higher in calories and unhealthy fats.

Baking in a sleeve, on the other hand, allows the excess oil to drain away from the food, resulting in a lower overall fat content.

Retention of nutrients

Baking in a sleeve preserves more of the natural nutrients in the food, as it is not subjected to the high temperatures and prolonged cooking times that occur during frying.

Reduced risk of overheating oil

Frying requires precise temperature control to avoid overheating the oil, which can produce harmful compounds.

Baking allows for more controlled and even cooking without the risk of oil reaching harmful temperatures.
