Home-made pasta can be way more delicious than the store-bought one.

You can also cut homemade pasta without a special pasta maker.

While a pasta maker or pasta machine can make the process more convenient and efficient, there are several alternative methods to cut homemade pasta by hand.

Roll and Slice Method

After rolling out your pasta dough into a thin sheet, use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to cut the pasta into strips for fettuccine or tagliatelle.

You can also cut the sheet into smaller squares for making ravioli or other filled pasta shapes.

Pasta Wheel or Pastry Wheel

A pasta wheel or pastry wheel is a handy tool with a zigzag or straight blade.

Roll the wheel along the pasta sheet to create even strips or squares.

Cookie Cutters

If you want to create fun shapes for pasta, use cookie cutters to cut the pasta dough into various shapes like stars, hearts, or circles.

Hand-Torn Method

For a rustic and irregular look, tear the pasta dough into uneven pieces.

This works well for making orecchiette or other similar shapes.

Pasta Board and Knife

A traditional method involves using a pasta board (a large wooden board) and a long, sharp knife.

Lay the pasta sheet on the board and use the knife to cut the desired shapes.

Ruler and Knife

If you don't have any special tools, a ruler can help you create straight and even cuts.

Lay the ruler on the pasta sheet and use a knife to cut along the ruler's edge.
