It might be hard to clean old and dirty pots, but it's even harder when they're rusty.

Some people prefer to throw these items away immediately, but others try to save them.

If the rust isn't that bad, then there are a few things you can do to save them.

Remove loose rust

Use a scrub brush or sponge to scrub off any loose or flaky rust from the surface of the pot.

This will help prepare it for a deeper cleaning.

Create a vinegar and baking soda paste

Mix equal parts vinegar and baking soda to create a paste. The paste should have a thick consistency.

Apply the paste

Spread the vinegar and baking soda paste onto the rusty areas of the pot. Make sure to cover the rust completely.

Let it sit

Allow the paste to sit on the rusted areas for about 15-30 minutes.

This gives the vinegar and baking soda time to work on loosening the rust.

Scrub away the rust

After the paste has had time to work, use the scrub brush or sponge to scrub away the rust.

Apply some pressure and scrub in circular motions to help remove the rust effectively.

Rinse and repeat if necessary

Once you've scrubbed off the rust, rinse the pot thoroughly with water.

If there are still some stubborn rust spots remaining, you can repeat the process by applying the vinegar and baking soda paste again and scrubbing until the rust is removed.

Dry the pot

After cleaning, make sure to dry the pot completely to prevent any further rusting. You can use a towel or let it air dry in a well-ventilated area.

Previously, we talked about removing paint from clothes.
