Hidden signs of depression: Don't miss them

06.03.2023 20:30

Depression is often associated with gloomy-looking people who see everything in gray colors.

In fact, this issue is often caused by chemical and hormonal disbalance, so everyone can potentially be prone to it without even knowing.

Here are some hidden signs of depression you should be aware of.

Withdrawal and Social Isolation

People with depression often withdraw from social activities, isolate themselves from friends and family, and avoid social interactions. They may cancel plans, decline invitations, or stop participating in activities they once enjoyed. When it's hidden, a person can sometimes do it subconsciously, without even understanding, why they don't find meeting their close people fun anymore.

Increased Sensitivity

Depression can heighten emotional sensitivity, making individuals more reactive to criticism, rejection, or perceived slights. They may become easily hurt or feel deeply wounded by small things that wouldn't typically bother them.

Changes in Sleep Patterns

While insomnia or difficulty falling asleep can be a common symptom of depression, some individuals may experience the opposite—excessive sleep or hypersomnia. They may find it challenging to get out of bed in the morning or feel the need to take frequent naps during the day.
