If washed incorrectly, woolen items can change their size and texture.

In this article, you will find out what you can do about it.

Why do clothes change shape after washing

The shrinking process of clothes made from natural fabrics is natural.

The fact is that in the process of producing yarn from natural raw materials, it is processed many times, stretched and, despite the processing, after wetting the yarn tries to return to its previous shape.

Clothes are soaked in the solution for 12 hours and then stretched by hand. The product must be dried on a hanger.

Stretching wet material is the most effective way.

To give the desired shape, you can use a steam generator or an iron with a steamer.

The unfolded product must be steamed or ironed through gauze until the moisture evaporates.

You can stretch a shrunken woolen item in a more radical way - by wetting it, putting it on yourself and waiting for it to dry.

“Shrunken” clothes made from knitted fabrics can be soaked in warm water for about 10-15 minutes.

Then it must be wrung out in the washing machine.

There is a chance that the centrifuge will return things to their original size.

If this does not happen, try stretching the item with your hands.
