If you tend to keep lots of clothes at the same place, then you should always remember about clothes moths.

This pest can make holes in your clothes, especially those that are made of natural materials.

Here are a few tips that can help you get rid of moths and prevent them from appearing in the first place.

Clean Your Clothes

Regularly clean your clothes, especially those made from natural fibers like wool and silk.

Moths are attracted to sweat, oil, and food residues on fabrics.

Use Airtight Storage

Store clothes in airtight containers or vacuum-sealed bags.

This prevents moths from getting in and laying eggs on your clothes.

Cedar Products

Cedar blocks or sachets can help repel moths. Place them in your closets or drawers.

Cedar gives off a scent that moths dislike.

Lavender Sachets

Moths also dislike the smell of lavender. Use lavender sachets or dried lavender in your storage areas.

Keep Closets Clean

Regularly vacuum and clean your closets.

Pay attention to corners and hidden areas where moths might lay eggs.

Sunlight Exposure

Sunlight can help deter moths. If possible, expose your clothes to sunlight occasionally.

Check Secondhand Clothes

Before adding secondhand clothes to your wardrobe, inspect them thoroughly. Moths might have laid eggs on them.

Rotate Your Clothes

Rotate your clothes regularly so that all items are used.

Moths are less likely to infest clothes that are frequently moved.

Moth Traps

Consider using moth traps.

These traps contain pheromones that attract moths and trap them, preventing them from reaching your clothes.

Regular Inspections

Check your clothes regularly for any signs of moths or damage. If you spot an issue, address it promptly.

Professional Cleaning

For delicate or valuable items, consider professional dry cleaning. This can help eliminate any moth eggs or larvae.
