A high-quality sheepskin coat can be an amazing item that can last you for many years, or even decades.

It's warm, stylish, and generally good-looking, but only if you take good care of it.

Here are a few tips on how to make your sheepskin cat last longer.

Avoid Getting It Wet

Ensure your coat doesn’t get wet, especially in heavy rain.

If it does, gently blot excess water with a clean towel and let it air dry.

Never use direct heat sources like hairdryers.

Brush Gently

Invest in a soft-bristle brush specifically designed for sheepskin.

Regularly brush the coat in the direction of the wool to remove dirt and maintain its appearance.

Store Properly

Use a breathable garment bag or cloth bag for storage.

Avoid plastic bags as they can trap moisture.

Hang the coat on a broad, padded hanger to maintain its shape.

Keep Away from Direct Heat

Direct heat sources such as radiators or fireplaces can cause the sheepskin to dry out and lose its natural oils.

Store your coat away from these heat sources.

Handle Stains Carefully

If you encounter a stain, use a damp, clean cloth to gently blot it.

For tougher stains, use a specialized sheepskin cleaner following the product's instructions.

Let It Breathe

Give your coat some ventilation. Avoid overcrowded closets, allowing air circulation to prevent mustiness.

Rotate the hangers occasionally to distribute weight.

Check for Damage

Regularly inspect your coat for loose threads, small tears, or any signs of wear.

Promptly mend minor damages to prevent them from worsening.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Stick to sheepskin-specific cleaning products or mild detergents.

Harsh chemicals can damage the natural fibers and oils of the sheepskin.

Wear a Scarf

Protect the collar and upper parts of your coat by wearing a scarf during inclement weather.

This helps prevent direct exposure to rain, snow, or harsh winds.
