Longan is cultivated in China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. In the wild, this tall, spreading evergreen tree is rare.

Smaller evergreen trees with a height of 10 to 20 meters are cultivated.

There are varieties adapted to the climate of a particular region.

Is it possible to grow longan at home

At home, you can grow an exotic plant from a seed, just like lychee, lemon, avocado, orange, mango, tangerine, and date.

The growth of the tree is slow, fruiting occurs after 4–7 years, and it is not always possible to wait for the fruits.

This tropical plant loves moist soil as well as good light.

Therefore, it needs to be regularly watered and sprayed with a spray bottle.

If you choose this route, you should plan to water the plant about once a week or every two weeks.

When does longan bear fruit

Longan in indoor conditions can be affected by mealybugs and scale insects.

The best way to protect against the appearance of spider mites is frequent spraying with warm water.

The tree formed by pruning begins to bear fruit already at 4–7 years.
