Eggplants are easy to grow and care for. Vegetables can be added to salads, pasta, casseroles, ratatouille, and stews. In the article you will learn what nuances should be considered when growing eggplant.

Care

Light and soil

For growing, choose a garden site where there is full sun. The plant needs a minimum of 8 hours of sunlight per day.

Penumbra will negatively affect the richness of the crop.

Do not plant eggplant too early; the soil temperature should be at least 75 degrees. The plant is happiest when the air temperature is between 70 and 85 degrees, so wait at least a couple of weeks after the last frost.

In order to insulate the soil, you can use the mulching method with black plastic or containers.

Choose loamy or sandy soil with good drainage and organic matter.

Both acidic and neutral soil is suitable for eggplant.

Watering

Vegetables tolerate drought well, but prefer moist soil.

Water the eggplant frequently until the seedlings are established. After that, 1-2 inches of water per week will be enough for the plant.

Fertilizer

Organic products are suitable for fertilizing eggplant.

Use top dressing when planting seedlings.

Do not forget to tie up the eggplants in the same way as the tomatoes and peppers. This is necessary so that the plant does not fall from gravity.
