Currently, chocolate trees are most cultivated in Ivory Coast, Ghana and Indonesia.

Cocoa trees can also be found in Brazil, Nigeria and Cameroon.

Homeland of the cocoa tree and cultivation features

This evergreen tree grows in South America (in its hottest regions).

It is cultivated from its seeds (cocoa beans) all over the world (where there are hot and humid conditions).

It can grow up to 12 meters in height.

Nevertheless, this is again influenced by climate.

When is the cocoa bean harvest

Unlike most food crops, cocoa trees bear fruit continuously.

Harvesting, however, usually occurs once or twice a year.

Most often it coincides with the rainy season and lasts for several months.

Collection time depends on the country of growth, climate and type of cocoa.

Is it possible to grow cocoa at home

If you want to grow the chocolate (cocoa) tree (Theobroma cacao), you will either need to live in the tropical environment the tree prefers, or you will need to grow it indoors, preferably in a humid greenhouse.

How to water

Seeds need to be watered at least twice a day after planting.

When watering, be sure to use a sprayer so as not to damage the seeds by watering as an adult plant.
