To have good relationships with your dog, you have to make sure that it respects you as an owner – that's the basic rule of dog training.

Meanwhile, if your dog constantly misbehaves and doesn't listen to your commands, then it might be a sign that it doesn't respect you.

Here are some of the basic signs that you should train your dog differently to become an authority.

Disobedience

A lack of respect may manifest through the dog consistently ignoring commands or failing to follow basic instructions.

Ignoring Presence

If the dog appears indifferent to the owner's presence and doesn't seek attention or acknowledgment, it could be a sign of disrespect.

Dominant Behaviors

Dogs may exhibit dominant behaviors, such as growling, snapping, or attempting to lead during walks.

These actions can indicate a challenge to the owner's authority.

Lack of Eye Contact

Avoidance of eye contact might suggest a reluctance to acknowledge the owner's authority, as direct eye contact is a form of canine communication.

Failure to Follow Rules

If the dog consistently breaks established rules or boundaries without showing remorse, it may indicate a lack of respect for the owner's guidelines.

Body Language

Pay attention to the dog's body language. Raised hackles, a tense posture, or defensive gestures may signal a resistance to authority.
