Externally, the jaguarundi somewhat resembles a representative of the mustelidae or civet family - the jaguarundi has an unusually (for a cat) elongated, flexible body on short strong legs.

Where do Jaguarundi live    

The Jaguarundi lives throughout almost the entire territory of South America, with the exception of the western highlands and the very south of the continent.

The range also covers Central America. Jaguarundi prefer to live in dense forests, among bushes, and are found in swampy areas, even in the mountains up to 3000 m above sea level.

A group of scientists from the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, St. Petersburg State University and the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences deciphered the jaguarundi genome for the first time in the world.

What do Jaguarundis eat

They hunt mainly on land, but do not avoid water and can swim. Jaguarundi scream mainly during the breeding season.
