The Border Collie is a medium-sized dog.

It has the characteristic head of a collie, and the dog's body is slightly longer than its height.

The ears are erect, but their tips droop, giving the Border Collie a lively and cheerful appearance.

History of the Border Collie

Border Collies were bred to herd sheep, but they can handle almost any type of herd and can even “herd” children in a family.

The breed originated in the lowlands and border areas of England and Scotland around the 18th century.

Breed Features

The Border Collie is the smartest dog in the world according to the Koren scale and a champion in agility, freestyle, flyball, frisbee and obedience.

The animal has a lightning-fast reaction speed and motivation for continuous work.

However, the owner will have to set the direction of development, and on a daily basis.

Longhaired collies are friendly and almost never nervous or aggressive.

These are cheerful dogs that form very close bonds with their families.

They are good protectors of the home, but will warmly welcome invited friends.

Nevertheless, there is also a drawback - the dog is very dynamic.

The Border Collie, in fact, never stands still; even for a second, she constantly needs to move.

This makes the Border a good dog for children, but it also means that the breed is not suitable for older people or those with a sedentary lifestyle.

Previously, we talked about what words dogs understand.
